Evacuation (#36)
"She's a very nice woman who's practically separated from her husband."
Hurricaine Dottie hits the coast and, as this weeks public information officer,
Wojo flips out when he discovers there's no comprehensive plan for evacuating
the entire city. The word spreads quickly through the depatment that in case of
a war, a tidal wave, or an earthquake, each and every department is unprepared
for action.
The uniforms see an opportunity to pick up some overtime, until Barney tells them that
the disaster is a rumor. When Lugar hears, he blows into the precinct and terrifies
the maintenance man into fixing the civil defense siren on the buildings roof.
Unfortunately, once it's on, no one can get it turned off.
We do get an introduction to the young Jilly Papalardo, one of the many foster
children Fish will care for in his short-lived spin-off. It seems one of her care takers
passed away in his sleep. The children decide to pack him in ice and try to panhandle
enough to survive until the other caretakers return.
