Original Air Date: November 8, 1995
Traumatized to the point of a nervous breakdown when Sloan & Co. aired her first two episodes in the wrong order, Alicia Wright's brains are now so thoroughly scrambled that it actually seems like a good idea to her to ask Kwai Chang Caine for help with opening a checking account. They set one foot in the bank and *WHAM*...instant bank heist! In a mind-boggling confluence of events, not only is this the day that Captain Simms needs to go to the bank for an "important escrow meeting", but it is also the day that Kermit's old friend, an ex-MI6-British-spook-turned-Fu-City-bank-president, starts thinking about committing suicide on the bank premises right in the middle of the day...AND in the pièce de résistance, the bank's one and only security guard just happens to be on a coffee break when the robbery attempt begins. Heh.
Continuity error actually avoided for once: If they HAD aired Alicia's eps in the correct order, then her nervous breakdown wouldn't have made any sense at all, because she was just fine in what should have been her second appearance.
Almost interesting facts: Deborah Drakeford has played Alicia Wright in three KF:TLC episodes: "Dragon's Eye," "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden (Or A Script That Made Any Sense, Either)," and now "Banker's Hours". David Hemmings, suicidal bank president John Durham, was most recently seen on the big screen in "The Gladiator" as Cassius. Strength and Honor! Vanessa Vaughan, the deaf bank employee, is deaf in real life. Nigel Bennett begins his on-and-off role as Capt. Jack Lasher, taking over as head of the Fu City S.W.A.T. team after the last one was arrested on several counts of homicide heh heh heh. Bennett was previously seen as the extremely unpleasant John Mitchell in "Straitjacket".
Episode Highlight: The look on Simms's face when Pita asks her to take his check to the bank as long as she's going there anyway. (And of course, she does it nevertheless <G>)
Episode Lowlight: David Carradine's pathetic attempts at sign language look more like he is refereeing a baseball game. Yer OUT!
Quote to remember: Old spooks never die, they just get spookier.
