Chinatown Murder Mystery: The Case of the Poison Hand

  • Production Number 1012
  • Original Air Date: April 26, 1995

Caine gets his chi poisoned...again...at about the same time that Pita is overdosing on Mickey Spillane. <G>

After his granddaughter dies of a rare blood disease, a man blames the three specialists who were treating her at the time of her death. Unfortunately for the doctors, this man is the evil Master Liam Holmes, who has taken the secrets of the Dim Mak (originally intended for the purpose of healing) and turned them to murder. In order to find out who is behind the murders of two of the three doctors, Caine withdraws the poison from the chi of the last living partner into his own body in order to form a psychic link with the poisoner...thereby poisoning his own chi and giving himself only until dawn to live unless he can find whoever is responsible.

The Code of the Dim Mak? Well -- The Code of the Dim, anyway. The Dim Mak fighters spend so much time making arcane hand gestures in the air that they are awfully darned easy to kick in the stomach!

Quote to remember: To take a Shaolin priest away from the Light and into the Darkness is the greatest sin.

The Eight Deadly Sins: Gluttony * Greed * Sloth * Envy * Wrath * Pride * Lust * To take a Shaolin priest away from the Light and into the Darkness

Episode Highlight: I've yet to unearth one.

Episode Lowlight: Kermit and Pita watch, taut with fear, as Caine wrestles a harmless lil garter snake into a fiery cauldron...and by the way, I sure hope that was a stunt snake <G>

Don't watch the ep, rent the movie: D.O.A. is a 1950 film noir classic starring Edmond O'Brien as a man who wakes up ill one morning; doctors tell him he's been given a "luminous toxin" for which there is no antidote. He has, perhaps, a week to live! Not knowing who did it or why, the man now must find his own murderer. For those of you who aren't into old black & white movies, there is also a 1988 remake starring Dennis Quaid for which the tagline reads: "Someone poisoned Dexter Cornell. He's got to find out who. He's got to find out why. He's got to find out now. In 24 hours, he'll be Dead On Arrival."
