Deadly Fashion:

  • Production Number 1005
  • Original Air Date: October 11, 1995

Caine dons a crappy cape and an even crappier French accent to help an ex-Shaolin monk from the Tempw who is now the brains behind a successful fashion design business worried that something odd is going on with his traveling fashion show. Pita takes his new suit for a test run.

Almost interesting facts: The dweeby ex-Shaolin monk Bernie Lepkowitz is played by Jack Blum, who also co-authored this episode! He might seem familiar, because previously he was the Elvis impersonator in "May I Ride With You." Ho Chow, who plays 'Chew' in this episode, has also been in two other KF:TLC episodes...as 'Jo Chow' in "Aspects of the Soul" during the second season, and as the Sing Wah leader in "Shaolin Treasure" during the fourth.

Stuntman alert: Ho Chow, mentioned above, also plays the guy who fights Khan in the Tempw flashback. I don't know if he's supposed to be portraying the same person in the present or not...if so, he hasn't aged a day in the intervening 15 plus years! Or they may just have figured no one looks at stuntmen anyway, so why bother to change the way he looks. <G>

Blooper alert: Bernie says, "Tan...I knew he was evil when he wouldn't let me correct the flow of his robes." But Tan wasn't called Tan back at the Tempw, he was called Master Tao. By the way, there is another place the writers will make this mistake...in "Destiny," as Master Kwan prepares to resign as head of the Tempw, he warns Caine to beware of "Master Tan."

Mum's the word: Lo Chi (Russell Yuen), the apparent leader of the Kit-ji Chuan, a super-secret "scorpion sect" that goes back 1,000 years, sports a jade scorpion necklace around his neck and a huge, garish, copper scorpion bracelet on his wrist -- and all this while wearing a 3-piece suit. Subtle, huh.

Quote to die laughing over: They want pizzazz. They're expecting flair, style...they're expecting YOU.
