The Sacred Chalice of I Ching:

  • Production Number 1015
  • Original Air Date: July 5, 1995

Traveling to France in a desperate attempt to save the eponymous Chalice from a neo-Nazi archeologist, Kwai Chang Pure-of-Heart Caine will die unless he can pass several trials, the last of which is to determine whether the Chalice is actually a sacred relic that puts the Holy Grail to shame, or just the second-place trophy in a local bowling contest.

Return of the crummy wig: Last seen perched precariously atop Rob Moses in "The Lacquered Box," the wig now appears on David Carradine's head in the scenes where he plays Matthew Caine in the Big One, WWII.

Episode Highlight: If there's actually anything you liked about this episode, feel free to fill in the blank...

Episode Lowlight: Caine promises Pita's life away by guaranteeing that the plucky youth will see to the safety of the Chalice after Matthew's demise.

OPH strikes again: We discover in this episode that when Matthew returned from the dead and went to Braniff looking for his son, a minor miscommunication between himself and Old Ping Hai accidentally made him think that both son and grandson had perished in the fire that destroyed the tempw.

A suggestion: Rent "Raiders of the Lost Ark"...the plot actually hangs together and the special effects are way better!
