Shadow Assassin:
Production Number must remain a Shambhala State Secret for now
Original Air Date: February 3, 1993
An overly made-up, elaborately coiffed Chi Ru assassin wearing a swishy
cape and a groady poison fingernail comes to Fu City to kill Everett Cooper
(Gary Blumsack), the author of a book that exposes the secrets of the
shadow assassin sect. The Chi Ru use deception to confuse and disorient --
oops, no, sorry -- that's the writers of this episode. In reality he didn't
need to lift a finger(nail) because it is crystal clear that anyone
connected with the book is going to die of boredom. Nevertheless, in his
pathetic attempts to kill the author, he manages to knock off the author's
"Shao Lin expert advisor" Lee Hai (NO RELATION), Pita's girl friend Jody
Kira, and even a street thug who was just about to save him the trouble of
having to kill the author at all. Is only my humble opinion you understand,
but -- perhaps if the assassin had spent less time applying hair spray and
makeup and more time studying assassination-related issues, he might have
been more successful. Right? Right? Am I right?
Almost interesting facts: Martin Kove (the ineffectual Shadow Assassin)
returns in season II for a sequel episode. He has been in at least 30
movies and numerous TV shows. His most notable movies: Karate Kid I, II,
III; Rambo I and II. Belinda Metz comes back in the second season to play
Jody Powell. Hopefully you will think Jody looks familiar, which is more
than Pita did. Lauren Piech makes her first appearance as Ariel, the
"street waif" who later loses her place in the community to Carradine's daughter,
Calista Cheryl Hines.
Quotes to remember:
I am quiet, but quite slovenly.
Even though you are a holy man, I bear you no malice.
