The Powerpuff Girls

Episode 72A -- THAT'S NOT MY BABY
Storyboard by Thurop Van Orman
Villain: None really

After a monster attack, the girls find a baby that they assume was separated from its mother in all the confusion. They can't locate the mother and they can't get anyone to agree to babysit the child temporarily, so they decide three superheroes like themselves should be able to handle a baby, no problem. I wonder if the author toyed with the idea of calling this "Three Girls and a Baby". I also wonder how many young people will recognize that the title of the ep probably refers to the song "(Yes, Sir,) That's My Baby."

Cute quote: Maybe if we show that we can take care of a baby, the Professor will let us have a hamster!

Episode 72B -- SIMIAN SAYS
Storyboard by Mike Kim
Villain: Mojo Jojo

Mojo Jojo takes over the job of Narrator for The City of Townsville unbeknownst to the girls, who suddenly find themselves doing very strange things without realizing why. There's a very strong nod to "The Wizard of Oz" in the scene where Mojo is discovered behind the curtain.

Cute quote: The City of Townsville...a city that while being a city is for some inexplicable reason called town; and not only is it called a town, but also a ville, thus making it a city, town and village, which seems to me to be redundant and repetitive, which can be quite annoying if you ask me, which you have no choice but to do. For now I, Mojo Jojo, am in charge of this City of Townsville where it is beautiful and sunny and frankly, I'm tired of it so I say instead, the City of Townsville where it is a little overcast, thus cutting down on the incessant heat wave we've been having. And in the outskirts of this city..town...ville...whatever, at the Utonium chateau, there are three little girls: Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup...

"Gee, the weather sure did change suddenly!"

and though they thought they would be spending a beautiful day at home, they hurriedly head for the City of Townsville TO DO MY BIDDING."

"Hmmm, for some strange reason I feel compelled to go into the city."

"I know just what you mean! Let's go!"
